Sabrina's Quiet Book

I am constantly amazed at all the talent that the readers of this blog have. I receive submission after submission that just leave me floored. Sabrina's quiet book is no exception - from the fantastic embroidery, to the awesome cover, to each and every one of the creative, cute, and fun pages.

Some of my favorite pages from Sabrina's quiet book include her solar system page (wow! So cute and cool and the detail on her planets is incredible!), her farm page (the ears of corn are awesome), her refrigerator page (looooove all the food), and her forest page (again - the detail is just incredible). It would be hard to not be inspired by this book. So please, enjoy!

Interview

What's your name? Describe yourself in one sentence.
My name is Sabrina and I am a stay at home mama from Germany.

Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they?
I made it for my wonderful daughter Christina. She is almost 2 years old and already loves her book.

What's your level of sewing experience?
I think I am advanced.

How long did it take you?
I don't know... Maybe 2-4 hours per page. I do all embroidery files by my own which has taken the most time to complete.

Did you use any templates? Where can they be found?
Most ideas I found on this blog. I made my own embroidery and cutting files. I am not very good in handstiching. So I decided my machines can do the work :). Here are two other pages I found my inspiration from - Solar system: Imagine Our Life: Solar System Quiet Book Page; Forest page: Meli Melo: Wild Animal Habitat.

How did you bind your quiet book?
I used grommets and binder rings.

What material are the pages made out of?
I don't know the English word. In German it's called embroidery felt. It is for embroidery applications and it is washable and stable.

What other materials did you use?
Cotton and fleece for applications. Ribbons, buttons, KamSnaps, and felt.

How much did all the supplies cost you?
I think the materials which I used have a value of more than 60€. About $80.

What's your favorite page? Why?
Ooooh! This is hard to say! But my top 3 pages are - solar system - farm page - forest page.

Thank you so much for sharing your book with us, Sabrina. It's fantastic!

Magda, the talented creator of the Toy Story Quiet Book and the Christmas Quiet Book, has sent one more awesome quiet book to share with you guys: her "Angry Birds" quiet book.

She has an Angry Birds tic-tac-toe page, memory page, puzzle page, and dress-up page, and each of them is done with such skill and has so much detail that I am just incredibly impressed. Look at all the different birds and pigs she made, and how well she did them all! And just look at that maze! I just can't believe it.

Kristen's Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Quiet Book

We're really lucky living in southern California that we get to go to Disneyland once in a while. In fact, just in the last couple months (because we went a couple times when we had family in town) my daughter's been able to go four times. She's two-and-a-half, and the first time we went she was a bit nervous about the rides. But now having been a couple times, the last time she went she was requesting all the different rides she wanted. She loooves Disneyland and asks almost everyday to go there. Sorry, kiddo. :)

So I'm really excited to show you today's quiet book - a Mickey Mouse Clubhouse book! Made by Kristen for her niece, this quiet book has a Mickey Mouse glove that you can lace, a flower page, a laundry page with a Mickey outfit, a Minnie outfit, and a Donald outfit, a shape and color matching page, a Minnie Mouse page with interchangeable bows, a cupcake counting page, a dog collar buckle page, and an Oh Toodles "I spy" page.

This is such a cute book and a great idea for a theme. Enjoy looking at all of Kristen's pages!

Interview

What's your name? Describe yourself in one sentence.
Kristen; I have a serious case of wanderlust.

Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they?
I made this book for my 2 year old niece for Christmas.

What's your level of sewing experience?
What would you call the level between beginner and intermediate?

How long did it take you?
I tried not to let it get too out of control. It took about 3 weeks working between other projects.

Did you use any templates? Where can they be found?
She loves Mickey's clubhouse and I couldn't find anything like that so I put my own twist on other ideas. Some of the pages I followed the idea, some I made up, and one (the laundry page) completely copied other than what the clothes are. For the flower/laundry page I used  Hardy Life: Quiet Book Pages, Pops and Podge: Quiet Book Page 4 - Do Some Laundry. The Minnie interchangeable bows are from here: Little Miss Stitcher: Minnie and Daisy.

How did you bind your quiet book?
For the cover I used this idea roughly:   Girl Inspired: The End of the Quiet Book Sew-along.

What material are the pages made out of?
Just cotton fabric with felt between to make it more sturdy.

What other materials did you use?
Mostly just felt.

How much did all the supplies cost you?
About $10 for felt, zipper, velcro, and vinyl. I had everything else.

What's your favorite page? Why?
The Oh Toodles page, because I'm impressed that I could tie it into the theme.

Thank you for sharing your super cute quiet book with us, Kristen!

Katie's Quiet Book

Happy Friday everyone! I have a completely adorable and extremely well-made quiet book to show you today! Made by Katie for her son, this book is so cute I don't know what to do with myself. Her pages are just to die for - look at that cute purple bird on its nest! And the fishing page! And the butterfly that comes out of the cocoon! Her shapes & color matching page is really clever - one of the best ways I've seen of doing it. And I love the details she added - the wrap around cover with a buckle is so smart and looks so good, and each page have a border looks awesome.

Take your time looking at all her pages, and enjoy!

Lift the Velcro flap to find a mirror
The clouds are pockets that hold little sky pieces for page 3
Open the curtains and find Velcro sky pieces (sun, clouds, rain, snow)
Three little eggs can be taken out of the nest
Weave the pie crust
"Catch" the football and practice tying the laces
Colorful "worms" are ribbon pulls, and three finger puppets (dog, cat, and bunny) can be taken out of the bushes
Match by color and shape, snap into place
Button the flowers
Fish can be moved up and down
Latch the dog collar and leash
Open the mailbox to find mail; move the flag up and down
Unzip the cocoon to find a butterfly
Tuck the kiddo into bed (magnets hold the blanket down)
