Another thing I really like about Wiola's quiet book is how she sewed all of the color names using ribbon - it looks so cool and I bet it would be a cool tactile addition. I kind of want to touch the letters through the pictures!
Anyway, enjoy Wiola's cute colors book!
Interview
What's your name? Describe yourself in one sentence.
My name is Wiola. I'm Mum to 2 year old boy, a runner and a triathlete -to-be.
Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they?
I made it for my son when he was a year old. He loved to chew on it.
What's your level of sewing experience?
I'm right in the middle I would say. Way past the beginner mark but long way to go to proficiency.
How long did it take you?
It's really difficult to say. It took me 2 or 3 months probably as I was sewing only in the evenings once the baby was sleeping and I sewed it by hand as I didn't have the sewing machine just yet.
Did you use any templates? Where can they be found?
No, I did not use any templates. I just divided the materials by color and left it to my imagination.
How did you bind your quiet book?
Simply sewed them together.
What material are the pages made out of?
The background is plain white cotton sheet and the colorful bits are made from old clothes. I searched through my Mum's attics and gathered the most interesting prints. It was very sentimental journey. Even now we look through the book with my Mum and once of us would explain every now and then: "That was my coat!" "Do you remember that skirt? You were 5."
What other materials did you use?
I used animal/flower shaped ribbons, and color ribbons for the letters.
How much did all the supplies cost you?
Not much as most of I already had at home. the ribbons cost me about $5.
What's your favorite page? Why?
Probably the red one but for no particular reason.
