Today's adorable quiet book is made by the talented Lily from the blog Craft Learn & Play. This is the first quiet book she made, for her nephew. What's your name? Describe yourself in one sentence. 
My name is Lily Zunic and I'm a first time mom who loves to create things; toys, games, decorations, accessories, food...well whatever I can think of. 
 
Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they?
I've made this quiet book for my 2 year-old nephew who lives in Croatia. It was my first quiet book ever and had 16 pages in total.
 
What's your level of sewing experience?
Although my grandma taught me to sew when I was a kid, and I had a sewing course many years ago I would say intermediate.

How long did it take you?
It took me almost two months, not sure about hours. My baby girl was 5 months old at that time so I would sew whenever I had a little spare time.
 
Did you use any templates? Where can they be found?
No, I didn't use any templates for that book, though I found many ideas on Pinterest. Whatever I make I like to cut shapes and tell the story on the go. It is part of the process and is much more fun. And not using templates makes my books different one from another. But on the other hand I started making free templates from my quiet books for moms who want to make their own quiet book. What material are the pages made out of?
Pages are made of cotton fabric in different patterns and colours. Inside every page is batting to make pages thicker and soft to touch.

What other materials did you use?Besides cotton I’ve used felt, ribbons, velcro, KAM snaps, magnets, nuts and wooden stick (for fishing page), zipper, minky fabric, wooden beads, buttons and even photograph for tractor page.  

What's your favorite page? Why?

Mine favourite page is piggy bank. I’ve made secret pocket, that little project was going on for two days until I manage to sew it properly. But it works perfectly. Every coin you put in piggy bank falls down between pages into wallet. It is great page for practice fine motor skills and zipping. But I love the most soft piggy made of my favourite minky fabric.

Dolores's Quiet Book

Today's quiet book was shared with me in unique circumstances. I was contacted by Gerd from South Africa, who had found this quiet book in a charity shop.The last page in the book lists the contact information of a woman named Dolores, who made the book. Gerd was able to get in contact with her family, and found out that Dolores passed away in January of this year, at the age of 95.

According to Dolores's obituary, she "...was born April 22, 1918 in Shelby, Ohio, the daughter of the late Joseph and Gertrude (Tome) Heiland. As a homemaker, Dolores was an excellent baker and cook. Known as the “cake lady,” she baked and decorated thousands of cakes for graduations, birthdays and many other occasions for many area families. She also loved doing crafts and needlepoints and cherished time with her children and grandchildren."

Thank you to all the women who share their love and brighten the lives of their families by sharing their talents with them. I hope you enjoy Dolores's quiet book. :)

Sami's "Things That Go" Quiet Book

Today is the second quiet book from Sami of Diary of an Overworked Mum's Kid Spot! This book is as cute and creative as her first. The theme Sami chose for this quiet book was "Things That Go," and she made pages of a hot air balloon, a boat, a crane, a car and traffic light, a rocketship, an airplane, a tractor, and a train. What a fun book!

What is your name? Describe yourself in one sentence. 
My name is Sami. I am currently a stay at home in Brisbane, Australia.

Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they? 
I made them for my three children who are 6, 4 and 2.

What is your level of sewing experience? 
Beginner. My "On The Farm" quiet book was my first ever sewing project.

How long did it take you? 
I honestly could not say exactly, maybe about a week or two for each book with about 2-6 hours a day. With them being my first sewing projects and having no one to teach me anything it was made up of a lot of trial and error.

Did you use any templates? Where can they be found? 
I used no templates; however, I did use some ideas that I found online.

How did you bind your quiet books? 
I just kind of poked a hole in the pages and stuck binder rings through them.

What material are the pages made out of? 
Felt.

What other materials did you use? 
Just felt and ribbon.

How much did all the supplies cost you?
I don't know exactly but it was definitely in the hundreds.

What's your favorite page? Why? 
I think the ladybug is my favorite. Probably because it was my first zipper and press studs and I felt like they turned up really well.

Sami's "On the Farm" Quiet Book

Good morning everyone! I am SO excited by the quiet books I get to share with you this week. There are three of them (one today, one Wednesday, and one Friday) all made by Australian stay-at-home mom Sami. You can find her blog at Diary of an Overworked Mum's Kid Spot. Sami's quiet books are FANTASTIC. They are seriously so cute and when I read that today's "On The Farm" quiet book was her first sewing project ever, I could hardly believe it.

Okay, so things I love about this quiet book: the purple border on all of the pages. It ties everything together so nicely. And the apple tree - look at those leaves! And the trunk! And the hand-stitching! And the barn, and the finger puppets, and the campfire and the butterflies and the teepee and pretty much every single thing in the whole book. I realized I'm listing every single detail so I'll just close my trap and let you enjoy this awesome book!

Moira's Number Quiet Book

Hi everyone! Sorry the last month was so slow on the blog; I'm getting ready to have our second baby and have been trying to get everything in order before she gets here!

The quiet book I have to show you today is made by Moira, the same skilled retired textiles teacher that made this Colors Quiet Book. Her new quiet book has a different theme: counting! Each page has a prominent number, a matching number of objects (embroidery or buttons), the number written out in English and French, and that same number of ribbon tabs on the side of the page. It's awesome! I think a book like this would be perfect for my almost-two-year-old; she loves practicing counting, and a book like this would help a lot. What's your name? Describe yourself in one sentence.
My name is Moira Elliott. I am a recently retired Textiles Teacher in the East Riding of Yorkshire in England.

Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they?
I have made this quiet book for my Grandson Daniel who is 15 months and lives in Quebec, Canada. He loves my first quiet book which was about colours and so this book is about the numbers one to ten.

What's your level of sewing experience?
Having been a textiles teacher for many years I am fairly skilled in all aspects of creative textiles work.

How long did it take you?
The numbers book took several days to make including the CADCAM embroidery of each number in both English and French.

Did you use any templates? Where can they be found?
I did not use any templates.

How did you bind your quiet book?
The book is stitched together down the central pages.

What material are the pages made out of?
The fabrics are mostly cotton, the embroidery threads used are viscose. The ribbons are mostly synthetic.

What other materials did you use? How much did all the supplies cost you?
The main cost was for the buttons and the ribbons. These totaled around £15.00. The fabrics used were taken from my large stock!

What's your favorite page? Why?
I do not have a favourite page but may do so after spending thus coming Christmas in Quebec and being able to see Daniel playing with the book.

Kristina's Quiet Book

For all those non-sewers out there, today's quiet book is for you! Put together by Kristina of Mother's Niche, this cute and fun quiet book is made on paper, laminated, and took her less than an hour to make. She made several versions of no-sew quiet books: magnetic, velcro, and vinyl. What's your name? Describe yourself in one sentence.  
Kristina.  If life consisted merely of creative projects I would be living a dream.

Who did you make this quiet book for? How old are they?  
My daughter and future children (my daughter is 14 months old and I'm pregnant with #2).

What's your level of sewing experience?  
Very beginner.

How long did it take you?  
To design the pages was probably 20 hours, to make the quiet book was probably less than an hour.

Did you use any templates? Where can they be found?  
Nope.  Since I couldn't find any "printable" or "no-sew" options at the time, I set out to make my own.

How did you bind your quiet book?  
Coil binding.

What material are the pages made out of?
Cardstock and lamination.

What other materials did you use?  
Velcro, magnets, or magnetic paint depending on the version.

How much did all the supplies cost you?  
Under $20 with exception to the magnetic paint version which was more.

What's your favorite page? Why?   
Daniel and the Lion's Den.  The concept of changing the Lion's moods from hungry to more pleasant just makes me giggle.
